Seed Starting Procedure

1. Pick the right seed for the season (some seeds have to be directly planted). Use seed trays to start and only use Pro-mix (no fertilizer) when done place a clear plastic cover on top.

2. Once germinated, and the true leaves emerge, the seedlings have to be at least 3 weeks old before they are transplanted into 6 packs or individual 3" - 4" pots. use either Coast of Maine or Pro-mix or ½ and ½ for growing medium. You can add small amounts of 14-14-14 pellets or fertilizer liquid. Keep the soil moist and water regularly.

3. Once plants are fully grown (at least 6 weeks) plant them to prevent them from flowering or becoming root bound. Plant in Flavor lab raised beds or outside in PDG

4. When planting, spacing is extremely important to prevent overcrowding and pests as well as ensure proper growth & harvesting. Check the seed package for instructions. Eggplants and tomatoes, for example, may need 18-24" of space once they mature to ensure room for fruit and ventilation.
